Lost and Found

(Bryan Clark)

Lots of references to Voltare's "Candide". Here they are: Dr. Pangloss was the moronic, eternal optimist. So his Daughter (whom I made up) would be a little naive shall we say?
Westphalia was the town in which the play took place. It was later destroyed by invading forces.
Lost and Found

Verse:
Here’s the heart of Sally
Pangloss’ daughter
Missing since revising chapters that he never taught her
North of downtown…lost
Me, simple
A Westphalian farm boy
I run the salvage yard for hearts that need redemption
“South of downtown…lost and found”

Chorus:
I got a midnight call from a debutante heir
She said “they stole my virgin heart last night by the stairs”
I’ll have show you ‘round
South of Downtown…lost and found (you can look around)

Verse:
She said, “ I offered my body
In a brothel on main street.
That’s where I lost it, it sold without receipt”
North of downtown…lost
Just like a stopwatch in
My back pocket
Every hour Pontiff city sends their broken hearts
South of downtown…lost and found

Just let me show you all these heirlooms I’ve found
I got miles of broken hearts just lying about
I want to take you down…and…

Bridge:

Show you how their souls can be read just like a book
There’s no secret combination you can just have a look
Note how their faces look like angels till they show you their horns
But its alright
It’s lost and found…you can look around…
